Frequently Asked Questions

The Answers You Need

What to expect

For novel-length work, we will begin with an excerpt of no more than 2 chapters (30 page max), for which payment is expected up front and will be deducted from the final invoice.

After completion of the excerpt, I will meet with the client in person or via Skype to provide feedback, determine the client's needs, and determine how much editing/type of editing is required. At this point, a quote will be sent outlining the remainder of the service.

Should I decide to accept the manuscript and proceed with further edits, a 50% down payment will be required. At the half-way mark, I will again meet with the client to discuss what has been done and how to proceed.

Upon completion of the project, we will have a final meeting to discuss all aspects of the work and determine a plan of action for the writer. Final payment of the remaining 50% is due within 7 days.

I can't afford a full service, what can I do?

First, I will always do my best to apply a discount for a client wherever possible. Definitely specify your needs in your email or in the phone call and we will find the service that best works for you depending on your budget.

Second, if all you can afford is the first two chapters excerpt (for a manuscript), I highly recommend at least doing that prior to submitting to a publisher. Cleaning up those first two chapters is imperative to impress those that will be considering whether or not to publish your manuscript, even if they will be doing further edits of their own.

Again, simply specify your needs when we speak to one another and we can find a solution that works for both parties and works best for your project.

Do you only do creative work?

Nope! I'll edit or copyedit just about anything - I have tons of experience in a variety of fields and business documents. I will not, however,do any legal documents.
